Different yes but one the other side they are MMO just like any other MMO..u have story,PVP,PVE...here i see the point is to enter some guild and fight guild vs guild battle and be best guild...u always can compare those things..as GW 2 is close i doubt that i will see any guild vs guild battle...so iam focused on story and i can say it's epic..

Both games are very complex in their own unique ways, also WoW is p2p, while Gw is b2p... uncomparable...

Actually I prefer a team structured pvp where every person and every class has its own role. I hope that Gw2 structured PvP would at least slightly resemble Gw1s PvP - which is (or at least should be) the highlight of Gw1s playing expirience.
As for the story and lore, again - uncomparable; it would be like comparing WH40k to LotR lore... story is ok, well developed lore.. fighting berzerking dragons that are about to destroy the world is a bit mainstream after Skyrim, but oh well... Also, Warcraft lore is much much older than Gw, and I'm not talking about WoW, I'm talking about general lore - WC1 (1994!!!), WC2, WC3, TFT, and then WoW..

Currently both WoW and GW are essentially "dead" (Inb4notdeadetc.) since both devs temporarily abandoned the game to work on another project, for Blizz it's MoP and w/e else they are working on. For ANet it's GW2. I'd say they are both equally as boring right now, but GW used to be a lot better imo when the game was at its peak.
I understand the rock thing, it's hard to get used to. GW is really an acquired taste. Suck it up and wait for GW2 though, shits epic as hell and like 20x better than GW1 and WoW put together... I know, I PLAYED THE BETA MWUAHAHAHAHAAH
By the way you can't solo healers in warcraft so idk where you got that idea from, oh wait unless you're a rogue with legendaries and heroic vial I forgot pvp is incredibly unbalanced with OP pve gear...

I can see why "veterans" find GW "boring" now... but coming from a semi new comer (abt 3 months ago) the PvE is really fun and challenging for newbies.
I know PvE was meant more like a "try your builds and go fight in PvP and GvG" but I have to agree the pacing of the story, especially nightfall and EoTN, is good and keeps the player invested.
I do think than comparing them doesn't really make much sense since the play style is quite different, but if you are trying to say something like "if you had to choose only one game to play, which one would you get?" then I would think GW is better in the long run since even with deserted servers you can still play with heroes and tackle some of the elite areas.

This was my biggest issue with the game initially, so let me comfort you and say after the beginning part of Prophecies (Ascalon and surrounding areas) the annoying narrow path maze like structure does go away.

Wait what?
You don't like that GW PvP is not gear based and built around teamwork and balance? To me any kind of PvP which is not balanced is terrible. You're not supposed to be able to go and roll everything imaginable on your own, that what your team is there for.

You'll be lucky to see proper teamplay there. Try GvG for a better idea. I'd suggest HA but it's empty nowadays.

I tried Wow for a week after playing Guild Wars for such a long time. I don't think I could get through enough content to even try PvP. And random teams in random arenas and fort or jade quarry are shit poor for judging PvP in guild wars cause most of it involves people complaining.

I personally hate GW 2 because it's way too complex and yet gameplay is so poor. There is no serious, skilled pvp, at least not yet. Story is good, but honestly, who cares about story after while you're grinding your 5th toon to max level. It should all be about gameplay. It's just my personal point of view, I guess I hate it because it's similar to WoW which I also dislike for similar reasons.
Anyway, back on topic I would say that WoW pve is better, there is teamwork required at some points. But GW pvp is something special. HA is unique tournament format that no game will ever have, it's really brilliant and even today when it quite inactive I still find it fun during quest days when there still are some people. I'll miss that best pvp format ever made.

I don't pvp in role playing games so I'm talking strictly about pve.
I find GW to be much more enjoyable long term. The depth of build creation is something WoW cannot match.
I started playing WoW shortly before lich king came out and had great fun for two years. After that, I've been playing WoW on and off. I currently have the annual pass and I thoroughly regret it. 3 months into the pass, I got tired of it. With nothing new until MoP, it was a complete waste of money.
More importantly though, WoW gets old way too fast. Using the same rotation for days worth of gameplay time gets mindless. Granted, the world and the quests are more epic in WoW, but when you do the same rotation you've been doing over so many hours, it's hard to enjoy the game. 31 specs isn't enough. Though if you consider that some specs are only viable in specific situations (Holy is quite pointless for questing, for example), it's less than that. After a little over 3 years of WoW, I got done with the game.
GW, on the other hand, gets refreshing every time I return to it. There's always some build I haven't tried before and it's so fun creating builds. Especially with full heroes now, it's almost limitless. 7 years into GW and I still don't feel that I'm done with the game. I feel like I need a break from GW at times, but I know I'll always return. I'm taking abreak from it right now, but I'll be back.
Another problem with WoW is that the amount of max level contents don't increase with each expansion. I mean, once you're level 85, majority of lich king contents no longer apply to you since they're low level. GW on the other hand, has 4 games worth of max level contents.
WoW is no pushover. Outside of fighting games, this game lasted the second longest for me at a little over 3 years. GW on the other hand, I've been playing for a little over 7 years and I'm still not done.

The golden age for both games are long gone. Time to get over it and move on to next gen games.
